The Communication Garden

Who are we?

The Communication Garden is a speech and language therapy practice based in Flatbush, Auckland. We are a mobile service, so we will come to you. This could mean seeing you and your child at home, at school/their early childhood centre, or anywhere else in the community that works for your child! We provide speech, language, and feeding support for tamariki aged 2-10 years in East and South Auckland.

Our mission is for all tamariki to be confident, happy, and thriving communicators, in whatever way that may look like for them!

Areas we Support

We have experience in working with children who:

Have speech sound disorders/delays, i.e., children who may be tricky to understand when they are talking, or who say some sounds/words incorrectly
Have difficulties with understanding or using language
- Late talkers
- Delayed talkers, e.g., they might only be using one word at a time but be over the age of 2
- Children who find it tricky to understand and follow what you say when you tell them to do something, or who find it tricky to answer a question
Are nonspeaking or minimally speaking
- Children who are not talking yet, or who use very few words, or who only communicate in very specific activities/situations
Need or use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)
- This could be core boards, PODD books, speech generating devices/iPads with communication apps, etc.
Are developing emergent/early communication skills
- Children who are learning cause/effect, or are developing joint attention
Have feeding difficulties or are 'picky eaters'
